Last month I gave you a GRATITUDE Challenge: Consciously be grateful and show gratitude throughout the month! This month, as we prepare for the Holidays, both religious and the universal New Year I found myself reflecting on the term, “The reason for the season”, and thought, “December is a great month for reflection in general.” Business owners are looking back, accountants are looking back, teachers are looking back, etc. So, here’s this month’s challenge:
Reflect on WHY you got into business in the first place.
What did you want out of your business?
Who did you intend to serve?
How would you serve them?
How would you make money?
What would you do with your profits?
How would you grow?
What would your ideal role in the business be?
NOW, ask yourself those same questions in real time. What have you gotten out of your business? Who have your served and how? Etc.
Is your business what you intended? Is its purpose the same, or has it changed? If it’s changed, are you happy with that change?
I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting lately. I’ve made a decision to serve many more and serve each one better next year. This decision has led to a new strategy. You know the old saying, “If you don’t like the results, change them!”
What will happen for you with a few hours of reflection this month? Maybe you’ll decide, as I have, that you need more time with your family. Or, perhaps you’ll decide to add a new program or product to better serve your clients. Or maybe, you’ll remember who you wanted to serve in the first place and make a decision to re-examine your target market. Who knows, you might come up with a whole new strategy to achieve success in 2013!
To YOUR success,
